Offsite authority is your brand's presence across the third-party sources large language models cite when answering questions in your category. That includes review platforms, comparison roundups, industry publications, and community forums. It matters because models weight independent sources more heavily than a brand's own marketing.

Why do models favor third-party sources over my website?

Because independent sources are treated as more reliable for evaluative claims. Your site saying you're the best option in your category carries little weight. A review platform, a comparison article, or a forum thread saying it carries considerably more. This is most pronounced on recommendation and comparison prompts, which are also the highest-intent ones.

Can you just get me placed on the sites that matter?

Not by paying for it, no. We correct listings you already control, pitch the publications and site owners that accept submissions or coverage, and help you show up genuinely in the communities where your category is discussed. Some placements take months and some never happen. Anyone promising guaranteed placement on editorial sites is either buying it covertly or overselling.

What about Reddit and forums?

They get cited heavily, especially for consumer categories, and they're the most abused channel in this space. How long does offsite work take to show results?

Longer than on-site work. A listing correction can propagate in weeks. An editorial placement takes a month or more to land and longer to get picked up by models. This is the slowest part of AEO and usually the highest-leverage, which is an uncomfortable combination.

Do I need this if my own content is strong?

Usually yes. A well-structured site helps you get cited on prompts where someone is already asking about you specifically. How do you measure whether it's working?
